Violist Jonna Hervig was born in Iowa City, Iowa. After studying viola at the University of Iowa with William Preucil, she then went to New York City, where she studied with Lillian Fuchs at Manhattan School of Music and Willliam Lincer at the Juilliard School. She has also studied chamber music with the Lennox String Quartet, Juilliard Quartet, and Guarneri Quartet.
Currently a member of the
San Francisco Opera Orchestra's
viola section, Jonna has played in the orchestras of the Aspen Festival and Teton Music Festival. She lives in Oakland with her two boys. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering for animal rescue programs such as Pets and Pals, the Sausalito Marine Mammal Resource Center, and the Lindsay Wildlife Museum.
